Educational Technology Support Specialist

Job Description:

  • Recommends, designs and implements local area networks, including installing and configuring servers and related hardware and software and workstation connectivity.
  • Recommends and assists with system enhancements and modifications. Provides technical support, documentation, project implementation management, and design modifications to meet the mission and vision of the school. Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, chrombook and connectivity problems all under the direction of the information services manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary contact for teachers and staff on technical assistance matters in person, via email and ticket system
  • Diagnose and repair basic hardware and software technical matters on user devices
  • Install software on users devices
  • Imaging and replacing hardware
  • Troubleshooting copier MFPs and printers
  • Repairing and replacing parts in broken devices
  • Coordinate technical setup for school events
  • Assist with purchase orders for hardware and software procurement & other administrative duties
  • Recommend, install and maintain network hardware and software
  • Provision new users
  • Resolve network communication problems independently 
  • Assist with maintenance, E-mail administration, and network connectivity

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of Information Technology Experience (preferably in a school setting)
  • Network troubleshooting skills
  • Install, configure, and support desktops, laptops and peripherals
  • PC hardware troubleshooting (break/fix)
  • Antivirus, spyware, VPN and firewall clients
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting networking components and protocols
  • Support MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google’s G Suite of products
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for this position
